Cause I want a more compact, discreet camera and I kinda want the best

I might consider an X-Pro 1 as well, it isn't even close to that time to decide yet so I'm not going to really worry yet. I just don't want to bring a huge DSLR with me to college, I want to keep it as light as possible with the best possible quality. I figured either an M8 or M9 w/ a 50 f/2 as my college camera.. Whoa knows, maybe I wont even sell off my camera or just trade it up for a 5DIII.

But I found some guys flickr who has full-res photos of M9 w/ 50 f/0.95, a lot of shots shot at f/3.5 and the bokeh is still insane.

why don't you just go all film? then keep your dslr for when you need it.. i kinda see you as a film photographer

Well I was at Bestbuy, the only FF camera they had was the D600.

Nice camera, the grip's a little bulky and the layout would take some getting used to, but it's a nice camera.

Yeah, it's been mentioned that they don't carry the 5d3 or d800 in stores. They did have the 6D though at my BB

I bought my first D800 at a Best Buy. It seems there are a select few in bigger markets that will carry them.

The first two are for sure, the 70-200 might be delayed a month or so depending on how easily I can sell everything etc.

Edit: it exists but it's the VR that is mark II. Not the lens itself.

The only reason why I can't do that is because if I buy a D800E with a 24-70 I get a $200 discount. That's $5K and over my $3K limit. I'd rather not use a credit card.

Go ahead and use the credit card. Pay it off right away (to "simulate" a debit card) if it makes you feel better.

It isn't f/1.4 but I think it is basically the same at similar apertures as the 1.4.
