why don't you just go all film? then keep your dslr for when you need it.. i kinda see you as a film photographer

Cause film is WAY more expensive then Digital. Ever get a roll of film developed? It's $10-$13, and fwiw it limits what you can do. I like to shoot film when I am able to but for what I like to do digital does it better.

I think you'll thoroughly enjoy it :)

It isn't f/1.4 but I think it is basically the same at similar apertures as the 1.4.

Every review I read about 1.8G tells me I should get it over 1.4G and save the money for another speed lite or just another pair of jeans

Is it normal for the Big Stopper to make a red cast on part of the image? I'll upload a sample in minute.

bw!

But yeah, I concur, unless you're on Canon then you should splurge but you aren't anymore so stick with 1.8 ;) Thing is damn sharp as well, the 1.4 may be better for the D800 though, that I'm not sure, I was using it on a 12mp body - not 36mp.

Here we go.

EDIT: That was SOOC just to show how bad it is.

This one didn't have the issue. I'm wondering if maybe I got a bad copy of the 16-35 as I think that was an issue with a select few.

Um.. :eyes it doesn’t matter what body you use it with. ;) lens will perform just the same. Well, yeah, with D800 you will tell much more on how sharp it is when pixel peeping

I know what your problem is ;) here’s the question. Did you close the viewfinder curtain? If no, this is your problem!

Not true, the D800 out-resolves some lenses supposedly. Which is also why you would need to use the best with those 36mp's ;)

I'm fairly certain I did. I know it was closed on some of them.

That is the problem, and I can assure you that. I’ll find my example if I hadn’t deleted it... Let me check...

The 85mm 1.8G is great on the D800.

Was the photo with the red tint a longer exposure? Higher ISO?

 I never said the 85 1.8G was one of those lenses

I was saying I wasn't sure if it was is all, I know there's lenses out there though that will be like that! Btw, just put that D800 in crop mode and you have yourself a 136 1.8 ;)

ISO 100 and like 8 seconds. It may very well have been the VF curtain on it. It only shows up on two shots. I assumed it may have been from the sun being at a different angle, but it's possible I forgot to close it on those two. I was just goofing off to test it out, and probably forgot about it.
