I like the composition of the first picture, but I would have prefered the focus the other way around, with the narrow DoF on the girl in the foreground. I know you were going for a different look, but I find the OOF girl up front too distracting from the statue.

I do have it the other way around also, but was experimenting. Was wondering what other people thought. Thanks.

I agree with this - having the oof girl on the front detracts from the photo and it would probably look better the other way around.

The first one doesn't seem to have anything in focus and seems over-sharpened to compensate. You're also getting a strange blue gradient in her hair and shirt. interesting idea but I might like it more if she were more in focus and if the stone was sharp. She seems cut and pasted in almost the way it is now

second looks oddly selectively colored, like maybe you missed the hand and chin?

I won't comment on #1 as what I'd have to say has already been said.

#2 seems OOF as well and cropped a little too tight to his shoes. The perspective of the shot and the wide angle (apprears to be a wide focal length) make the photo look crooked. From my expereince it's not very flattering to shoot up at people, especially with a wide angle lens. It's also a little too cold. Did you use selective color?

Wow, I really missed somethings on these photos. I'm going to have to go back and look at the originals and see where I "missed" on these. #1 was just a try at something different, but I missed those blue tones. #2, I don't remember selective coloring it.

Agree with the OOF of both. Without the focus, the photos really lack any more C&C:(

I think you have a bit of camera shake on number 1 aswell, I also agree with the other comments..

as for number 2.. The model looks somewhat uncomfortable in his facial expression.. Like he's been told to pull that smile.. doesn't look natural.. Also a little out of focus and i'd prefer to have a bit more saturation in the colours... ( i know it's a grave yard and that was the look you were going for.. but it just doesn't work for me..

yeah, 2 lessons learned here -
1) My laptop display sucks. Just fired up the PC and looked at the pics - embarrassing.
2) I shot the entire series in 1600 iso. Don't ask me why, I always leave my camera on 100 by default and have really ever only shot at 200 on the highest.
Photos removed. Sorry about that.

They were really bad and I should have never posted from my laptop.
I know. I'm sorry, Flo.
