A few shots of some Northern Shovelers at the duck pond, almost all females, just a few males usually in bad lighting.

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Really nice shots! How did you get so close? Shovelers around here are usually very skitterish.

Great shots. I don't think I've ever seen one out of the water before.

Thank you very much everyone, I truly appreciate your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the images!

Gail, just lucky to catch the light right for the reflections on that day, usually I'm not so lucky...

FPP, these guys and girls can be very skittish here too, but sometimes some of them seem to get so caught up in eating or whatever else they're doing, that they just seem to ignore whats going on around them. These are hanging out with a sizable flock of semi-tame Mallards too, so there's usually a lot of activity going on around them...maybe that helps to distract them too, I don't know.

Ken, usually I don't see them out of the water either, actually most of the time when they're in the water they're swimming around in circles with their heads underwater...makes it really tough to get a photo of them looking up.
