This probably belongs in Transportation Talk but...

No, not 'shopped. Jessica is one of the very best but she comes by it genetically.

Her Uncle Jay is also one of the very best: http://www.jmillerpics.com/bio.html (external link)

Jessica also worked at Pilot Getaways magazine before taking over Plane & Pilot.

She's also currently on the board of International Society For Aviation Photography (external link)

These are awesome!
What are you insinuating about being shopped?
Everything today is digital.
If I crop, adjust lighting or contrast even a little, then I'm shopping too.
So, is this a bad thing? I'm not talking about putting my bald head on an athletes body and passing it off as the real me.

Photoshop is just a tool, but like all tools, you have to know how to use it.

Surgeons are using robotics for non-invasive surgery. So when you have your prostate operated on, would you rather a huge scar on your belly or two small incisions that don't even require stitches?

Its Technology, embrace it, accept it, use it!

Relax Fester...i was simply talking about how close the planes were...i use photoshop myself quite extensively as well...the proximity of some of the planes together almost didn't look real to me...that's all i was saying...

She does excellent work! I wish I could see the EXIF in her images.

1/ridiculous @ f/ND ISO 100

(more than likely with a gyro)

I know she only recently started using a 50D. She worked for quite a while with only a Rebel.

That Blue Angels shots is one of the absolute best aviation shots I've seen to date...absolutely amazing; definitely a fantastic body of work there, thanks for sharing.

FWIW, that BAs shot is something of a bone of contention...

Nobody's quite sure who set that up. There was another shooter on Fat Albert and his photo was chosen by the Blues as their official team photo the following season. First time a civilian shooter has ever had an image chosen.

Her shot of Relentless breaking the coastline at sunset with full disc has been my favorite aviation image since that poster was passed out at Reno 2008.

...and the best thing about A2A, the most focal length you need is like 100mm assuming you have talented pilots. All the money you save on long lenses you can put into chase plane hours.

Not knowing the conditions (bad air, long lens, open door turbulence), I would have liked to see a full disc on the Red Bull P-38. Even I managed a full disc on 23 Skidoo with Hinton at the controls A2A, and I'm not even one of the best here, let alone ever. I was shooting 1/20s, which was kinda scary given the potential to screw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

In my opinion, Jessica is the #2 air-to-air photographer in the world (second to John Dibbs). She's got extreme talent to get the photograph, and extreme vision to create the image.

Oh, I think #2 is a stretch...

I'll grant that she's been on quite a roll over the last year or so with some unique subjects, unique formations and unique locations.

There are several who've been doing it for a lot longer at just as high a level.

Bowen
Munson
Koepnick
Ringinger
McKenna
Haynes

...are names that jump immediately to mind. Jessica is certainly cutting a pretty wide swath right now, but she (in my opinion) doesn't have the depth (yet) that these six names have.
