Given the choice.....which one would you buy and why.

Gitzo GT-2531

or

Induro Carbon 8X CT213

I am going to buy one of these tripods. Looking for opinions of people who may have used them and have first hand knowledge of them.

I have the Acratech GV2 Ballhead for use with whichever tripod I purchase.

Thank you.

Please proceed, Governor.

You will get a dozen responses proclaiming Gitzo is way better and a few others saying Induro is just as effective. I went from a series 3 aluminum Gitzo to a size 4 CF Induro and absolutely love the decision. If possible, visit a store with both models before deciding.

I would go with the Induro myself because of the lower price. I have owned many Benro and Induro tripods and have been very happy with the quality. But at only $100 more, the Gitzo would be a good choice and probable would hold its value better if you ever wanted to sell it.

I too am a very happy Benro owner but in this case I'd get the Gitzo over an Induro. As a user of both Benro & Gitzo my sense is that Benro make very good tripods for the price but the Gitzos are more durable in the long run. The price differential here is not that much and as David states above the Gitzo will hold its value better.

As you probably know Induro is a Benro brand. Benro make a very similar, almost identical tripod to the Induro CT213 - the C2570T (external link). Now that tripod at $309 against the Gitzo price; that's a more difficult decision...

It really is worth it. I've spent hours agonizing over tripods in stores. It's very instructive to be able to set one up and collapse it as you get a sense of the handling that way. You live in CT so surely there's a camera store that carries tripods in Hartford?

Actually it's worthwhile taking a day off and going down to NYC to visit B&H and/or Adorama. Then you'll know. :)

Just a note about Benro & Induro quoted from an email I received back from them when I asked about the differences.

"Regarding your question of the two companies, there is one very large efficient factory which produces both brands. The difference is that Induro is designed in the US and has it’s own assembly, performance and QC process. Both brands (and as a result the customer) benefit from the economics of large scale production."

Well, i can't talk about Benro or Induro, but i have 4 CF different models of Gitzo tripods [Series 1, 2, 3 and 5], and i can tell that since i got them i never never look back to any another tripods at all, even that of RRS one.

If you have more budget then i advice you to get Gitzo series 3 XL or mountineer model or systimatic one, believe me, it is an ultimate tripod until you force yourself to find issues with it.
