Thank you all very much. The 6D is a great tool indeed. My daughter just got into motocross so my photo opportunities recently have been of sport/action which is NOT my thing at all. But, it is colorful, fast, and somewhat exciting so I continue to be drawn to shooting these lately.
I will tell you that my keeper rate for action shots has been very high using L-glass with this camera (and I am NOT a sports shooter). This camera shoots sports/action just fine. Excellent tool.
Here is the last one from Wednesday's motocross practice:

great composition, lines created by the ground, clouds, direction of the flags, the bike and the person in the stand against the sky.

sense of movement, both fast (the rider), and slow (the clouds), combine nicely.

Thanks...the hummingbird's feathers were so bright I couldn't make any exposure adjustments without blowing out the colors.

So was shooting with the 50 1.8 today, and half the images turned out to be a bit blurry (shooting in Av). Thought it was back or front focusing, so did a home-made test with a few medicine boxes, and it did seem to need about +12 MFA. Checked the rest of my lenses, and they seem to be pretty close to spot on at 0 so didn't mess with them.
But what actually caused the blurriness on the 50mm was the fact that the Av mode was selecting 1/50-1/60 shutter speed most of the time. Went and changed the minimum SS in Av/P mode in the menu, and now it does much better with a minimum SS of 1/125 (1/250 seemed a bit too excessive :) ).
