Gotcha. Sorry for if the question sounded vague. Its just that the lighting and the texture looked like something done in a studio, or, you get the most excellent table by window!

Thank you very much! I had some one hold the speed lite or I also shot one cam in hand speed lite in the other if they were not doing it right enough for me. I did ask the owners for a little patience and had them pose/stage for the shot.

I shot my first wedding last Saturday with the 6D, I definitely have a lot to learn, but I got a lot of great shots :) I set it up with the bride a month ago and told her that this would be my first time shooting a wedding and that I wanted her to be sure that she'd be comfortable with me doing it and I asked her to come up with a price that she thought would be fair, in the end I did the shoot for $250 but she ended up giving me a $100 tip because she was so thrilled that I was eager to shoot just about everything/everyone... lol. I'll post up some more shots once they're all up on my Smugmug for the couple to download, for now here's a few from my flickr.

One of the first few images with my 6D

Handheld at ISO 3200 using NR in Lightroom. Looks a little dull, but I'm working my PP technique since it's been a while!

thanks! yeah u can do a lot of stuff in post-processing, i only have my 6D and 50mm f/1.4 prime with me when i go out so as long as i sit near a window, i am usually ok... u learn a lot each time you go out to eat to the point actual professional photographers ask me if i had a full lighting rig set up lol... in reality, there is nothing, just food on a table and my camera XD

I am of the opinion that happiness will depend on whether the camera fits a person's intended uses. I like to do a lot of indoor/ low-light photography with still/slow subjects, so I love the 6D for that usage and thus am very satisfied with it. No gripes at all so far, to be honest. I'm actually forcing myself to think of something that I dislike about this camera as I type this and I can't think of anything right now... maybe something will come up the longer I use it?

That being said, on the rare occasion I want to photograph sports, I take the 60D instead. I like the longer reach and the AF seems a tad bit faster. And that's a 60D, which pales in comparison to a 7D in those situations. So I can see if someone's primary interest is sports photography and they get a 6D, they might not be too happy with it (but I don't know why even a semi-informed consumer would get a 6D if they are a sports shooter).

I got the 6D over the 5D Mark III because of budget. Not necessarily affordability, I could shell out the extra $1000 or whatever it is without affecting my finances. I just didn't feel comfortable paying that extra for all that camera which seemed a bit more than what I'd need. Then again to be honest I could probably get by with a T3i and a speedlite since I'm not a pro.

VicSkimmr wrote in post #16173048 (external link)
for me, the ceilings I keep banging off of are the slow FPS and 1/4000 limit on the shutter. we'll probably pick up a 7D as a sports/birding body in the near future, but we do little enough of that to really matter right now.

But don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore my 6D.

Thanks guys, this was very helpful to me as I'd considered all these points.

As the camera is for use when I travel, the weight is the primary driver, but I didn't want any severe limitations; and you don't know what they are until you ask existing users!

I have a 1DX for my serious stuff, so shutter speeds and ISO limits are not a concern. The 6D is for holidays, and a companion on business travel when I have the odd hour or 2 to spare. For instance, this shot was taken with my old 5D2, just because I had it with me on a business trip:

I seems like the 6D is the perfect tool for that job. Decision made, a 6D it is (unless anyone want to throw something else into the pot?)

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your support ;-)a

Cheers,

Jeff
