Please can anyone clarify....I thought that the Canon 10-22 was only for crop bodies (I have read this many times) and yet it is getting used lots here on the 6D? Whats the deal? Thanks

Remove the plastic bit from the back and use it from 14mm and beyond.

I have a set of images in my Flickr account with my 10-22mm attached to my 6D I haven't used a 17-40 or 16-35 to compare though. Corners aren't the greatest wide open, but oh well.
