It's a glass (or plexiglass) that has good clarity and very little reflection for the purpose of display. There are different types that are made for UV resistance, extra clarity, extra security, etc.

Speaking of which, years ago when I was in D.C. Shooting 35mm slide film (90s) there was no protective barrier between the 1812 flag and viewers. I lost the slides years ago. I was also able to photograph the Declaration of Independence, but it had glass. Only John Hancock's signature was still visible with the naked eye. According to our tour guide the DOI and the US Constitution are sunk deep in the earth and encased in lead when not on display. I thought that was pretty cool.

You could submit that to a news agency or more.

Perhaps it's my lack of northern experience (lived in the southwest and southeast all my life) but I've never seen a landscape like that with a person dressed like that walking across it, and without a shadow.

We got 22" of rain from 7pm till 3am....Worse than any hurricane we have ever had. The lake by my house flowed into the main road, I 95 was shut down, schools were canceled and no one could go to work.....My neighborhood is NOT in a flood zone.

Ouch... looks like water got into that garage in the last shot. Hopefully there wasn't too much damage/property loss.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I'm glad the image has caught your attention. :) Our local news wouldn't likely be interested. It's blase to us locals.

I often see the frozen effect. This gentleman just seemed to not quite fit for the neighborhood. I didn't even notice that he didn't have a shadow. It was sunny at the time.

The lake isn't frozen over. Some years it has though.

Wow. At least your kids are having fun. I'm hoping your house is ok... The worst part about floods are that the countertops don't get damaged.....(inside joke)

Like the second shot the best, you should send that to the newspapers.

Heard about the rain in Florida, it's unimaginable to us. California is apparently in yet another drought.

Glad everyone is fine!
