In AF, for the most part, yes. I believe the centre AF point on the 6D is better though (in low light). ISO performance on the 6D is better at higher ISO's from what I have seen (haven't seen comparisons at low ISO's though). I believe the 5D III has banding issues as well and images look worse with exposure and shadows etc pushed up in PP compared to the 6D. The 6D has wifi and GPS whereas I don't think the 5D III does. So on pure IQ, I believe the 6D is actually better. 5D III main advantage is the AF which makes it a great camera for fast-paced action and sports, whereas the 6D is pretty basic and lacking in this regard.
