^^^ Excellent tut, many thanks. Just got the goskywatch app, it all now makes sense to me. BTW, layers and masks on a single shot is pretty much the same as multiple shots to make up a composite ;-)a Excellent work. must give it a go. Thick fog here today so unlikely to be anytime soon :(

how did you know when to change batteries? Calculation? pretty cool timelapse.

Used a battery grip (ie 2 batteries) and only got to about down to about 65% full on them, had GPS on as well.

Thanks Dwain. I know it is not cool in the tech section here, but find myself hating images that are tack sharp on your subjects right eye etc. Just such a generic look to me.

Lucas, on that note, I like that shot. It is spooky looking as hell with your hands in like a prayer kinda formation. Nice!

Thanks, that was my friends idea when he saw how my hands looked holding the phone

Very nice effect. Could create some rumors of the haunted train tracks. Hah

lol, true. We only did it because there's just too much noise pollution around here to get a decent astro shot :( I had my other friend trigger my flash right behind the camera once as we were walking up, that's why we're so prominent in that spot.

I actually liked the one without the flash better (I think I posted this earlier, so sorry if it's a repost)

Cheers! :D

Well, adjustment layers with masks in PS is much like adjustments in LR, a composite is when you introduce a new element from a different shot :)

Once you've got a few MW shots under your belt, they get easier and easier to do

Hey guys, new to this thread, got my 6D about a month ago and I am loving it. :)

I stitched together 15 images for this shot!
Also, I may have a problem with my 6D's Wifi.. It will connect to my phone for about 2 minutes, then disconnect. I've tried this with other phones too and it just won't work. Anybody else ever have this problem?

I use this one: http://www.hahnel.ie …tion/productSearch/pid/80 (external link)

I've done one manually before just counting in my head and seems to work ok (was only about 1 hour time-lapse)

I did have to change the memory card but only lost on frame doing so (using sandisk extreme pro 32gb's)

I've got the CamRanger so I can control the camera from the comfort of my car :-) It also has an intervalometer, but I've not used it yet; must have a go at time lapse, looks fascinating.

Does the cam range work similar to using the WiFi app?

Yes, but it's a million times better. You plug in a dongle to create the WIFI link, and you can control everything on your camera from 150 meters away if you wish. I use it with my iPad, particularly for night shots because you can control the exposure, focus and all. Excellent product. I don't use the Canon app because it doesn't run on iPad; I much prefer the larger screen :-)

if you're someone tech savvy, you can install magic lantern and get a free intervalometer. I haven't done it on my 6D, but my old 5D does have an intervalometer via magic lantern and it's sweet. Works out better for me because I'm more comfortable leaving a cheapo camera outside than a more expensive one.
