if you're someone tech savvy, you can install magic lantern and get a free intervalometer. I haven't done it on my 6D, but my old 5D does have an intervalometer via magic lantern and it's sweet. Works out better for me because I'm more comfortable leaving a cheapo camera outside than a more expensive one.

wait up, so the canon will run on my nexus but not ipad? doesn't sound right. The application is fairly limited for sure, but works fine in a pinch.
btw, canon app can control exposure, focus, and all as well. Not intervalometer function, and bulb sucks on it too.
I use Magic Lantern and swear by it, especially with bulb ramping (auto exposes as the light changes). And can review files with the EOS app as they are taken, and also adjust exposure if needed and ML will take it from there.

The EOS Remote app works on iPad but it is native for iPhone only as far as iOS devices go. Therefore, instead of taking advantage of the iPad's native resolution and Retina display, the user is forced to "zoom in" to double the size of the app to view it in full screen on the iPad. This results in pixellation and loss of quality viewing the image from the 6D on the iPad.
I still use it but it's been over a year since the 6D has been out, there are now other WiFi capable cameras (I think, 70D has it also, not 100% sure), and hopefully Canon will update the EOS Remote app to include a native iPad version.
I use an iPad mini, and zoomed in doesn't effect the picture quality, it's only the app interface that zooms in from what I see. Can't wait for updated versions though, as it is quite limited, but very worthwhile having.
