Yes, but it's a million times better. You plug in a dongle to create the WIFI link, and you can control everything on your camera from 150 meters away if you wish. I use it with my iPad, particularly for night shots because you can control the exposure, focus and all. Excellent product. I don't use the Canon app because it doesn't run on iPad; I much prefer the larger screen :-)

wait up, so the canon will run on my nexus but not ipad? doesn't sound right. The application is fairly limited for sure, but works fine in a pinch.

btw, canon app can control exposure, focus, and all as well. Not intervalometer function, and bulb sucks on it too.

The EOS Remote app works on iPad but it is native for iPhone only as far as iOS devices go. Therefore, instead of taking advantage of the iPad's native resolution and Retina display, the user is forced to "zoom in" to double the size of the app to view it in full screen on the iPad. This results in pixellation and loss of quality viewing the image from the 6D on the iPad.

I still use it but it's been over a year since the 6D has been out, there are now other WiFi capable cameras (I think, 70D has it also, not 100% sure), and hopefully Canon will update the EOS Remote app to include a native iPad version.

Jeff, I have been looking into this product. Question : Do you get 150 meters range when you use it ? The reason I ask is that the company's info claims 150 feet.

I edited this photo I had posted earlier based on inputs from from FM members. Lowered saturation on his jacket, cropped off his knees and moved him off center, added a bit of vignetting. I think it looks a lot better now! 6D + 70-200 F2.8 II.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Does the cam range work similar to using the WiFi app?

The CamRanger app is (much) more advanced than the EOS Remote app. While I've never used the 6D with the EOS Remote app, I've read numerous reviews about it (even read manuals to know more about it). I do however own a CamRanger and use it in combination with my 550D. A few things that can be done with the CamRanger (although some features are only possible with certain bodies):

- Transfer RAW files to your mobile device (e.g. iPad).
- Record video and stop recording video (even focusing during filming is possible I believe).
- Focus Stacking.

For a more detailed list, check the CamRanger website (*Click (external link)* and *Click (external link)*).

if you're someone tech savvy, you can install magic lantern and get a free intervalometer. I haven't done it on my 6D, but my old 5D does have an intervalometer via magic lantern and it's sweet. Works out better for me because I'm more comfortable leaving a cheapo camera outside than a more expensive one.

I use Magic Lantern and swear by it, especially with bulb ramping (auto exposes as the light changes). And can review files with the EOS app as they are taken, and also adjust exposure if needed and ML will take it from there.

I use an iPad mini, and zoomed in doesn't effect the picture quality, it's only the app interface that zooms in from what I see. Can't wait for updated versions though, as it is quite limited, but very worthwhile having.
