I think I've found the issue now. I think my forehead was slightly catching the multi point controller when in portrait mode.
This means that when I half press the shutter it moved the focal point.

I've turned the multi point controlled off focal point now, and it seems to be better. I'll try it properly tomorrow but hopefully my issue is resolved!

This happened to me with my 650D when I was shooting in portrait with the battery grip. I thought there was an issue with the grip, but my forehead was hitting the other focus button which cancelled out the focus button on the grip. Big facepalm when I figured that one out.

I have noticed my 6D and 85 1.8 are front focusing, so I'm going to try MFA tonight.

My headphone amp and DAC 8-)

Wow, with $2300 in hardware just to drive headphones, I'd love to see them too...

Anyone here try an L-bracket for the 6D (no grip)? If so, I'm looking for recommendations. Arca-Swiss style.

uh, I had a bracket on during our meetup ;)

RRS version. I would suggest buying second hand if possible, save a bunch of money. Ran second hand versions on two of my previous bodies, bought for less than half price new.

I have the Kirk BL-6DG on mine, but I'm gripped...what questions do you have?

My take...Its a little pricey for what it is, but It works great.

I have Jobu Design ---JOLBC6D---nice fit on 6D without battery grip. I got it from B&H for $125. I really like it and use it with Arca Swiss Quick Clamp works perfectly. I can access inputs on the side of the camera with the L-bracket inplace.

That's pretty much what I'm looking for. I've got the Arca-Swiss plates and wanted an L-bracket to make my life easier when it comes to orientating the camera (portrait vs. landscape). Not looking for anything fancy. Just something that does the job without getting in the way.

If you're looking for basic, Amazon has one named by Desmond. $39 and it works great for me. well reviewed as well. Check it out.

Just be aware of what your buying, fitted vs non fitted. I have the fitted variety and keep it mounted at all times. No chance of it falling off, since it is fitted. It's relatively small and light, so no need to take it apart. For me, it's one of the most essential accessories I have. If you don't plan on keeping it on all the time, then a cheapo non fitted will be fine..... But once you use it, you don't go back.... It's fantastic.

BTW, I do have a really inexpensive Desmond tripod foot, and it's really well made.
