My wife and her CrossFit pals routinely photograph themselves performing hand stands in "random" places. Here's my take.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forum, but have been reading all of the 6D posts over the past month (I'm a loser). Your pictures are all amazing! I bought a T3i a year and a half ago not knowing anything about dslr cameras and have been hooked since. I recently decided to upgrade since I'm taking a trip of a lifetime to Fiji this summer and want to get the best possible pictures. I only have a month to practice! I love the low light capabilities of this camera! My T3i wouldn't even let me take a picture in my living room at night! I joined Flicker and uploaded the pictures that I've taken so far...mostly my dog in low light and some outside shots. My husband and I hiked to some local waterfalls with a tripod yesterday to prepare for Fiji waterfall pictures. I tried to edit them to the best of my ability in Lightroom. I even tried to use LR enfuse to try HDR, but not sure if I had much luck.
Here is a link to the flicker album: https://www.flickr.com …233@N08/with/14379875595/ (external link)
I'm not sure about embedding the pictures...are they too big?

I'm currently trying to read some books and google as much information that I can. I have some questions if anyone would like to help me out :)

I know that my shutter speed should be faster than the focal length of me lens...I just have a hard time applying this concept when I zoom in. When I see my blurry pictures at least I have an idea why they're blurry.

My metering is set to center weighted average. Is this something that I should change if I am taking landscape pictures when the sky is bright? I'm finding that a lot of pictures from yesterday had a washed out sky.

After reading all of your posts, I've set my camera to back button focus. I'm just having a hard time getting used to it. I also have a hard time knowing where to focus. If I am taking pictures of people, I focus on the closest eye? What about multiple people? How about for landscapes?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Abby, I think you are doing fine on your photos you posted. I did the same thing and bought at T3i and after getting to know more about the differences between SLR and DSLR, I got a 6D to compliment what my T3i does well.
I am not a big fan of center weighted average for metering. I usually use either spot or evaluative, There was a lot of technology into evaluative metering. I use it most often, I use spot when I know the shot will under or over expose the subject because of drastic differences in exposure.
What other questions do you have. I am sure there are plenty of people here who would be glad to help. Shoot me a message if you feel more comfortable that way, I would he happy to help where I can.

I just took a trip to CA for a week. I snapped about a thousand shots. Here are a couple (all with 6D and 28-135).

Certainly not the East Coast. Big cliffs in a few places.

The Boneyard (a surfspot in north San Diego County).

Self Realization Fellowship (same location as above photo)

This is the most expensive attraction in Disney's history. They spent over a billion dollars on this one. Carsland. They recreated the entire town of Radiator Springs from the film Cars. It's amazing. I could have spent a whole day there.

that's quite the car meet. A few years from now, that will be my next hobby, but will look for the more timeless cars, something I can ride that never gets old.

Yeah, my friend bought an R35 GTR last year and then organized a big gathering and named it "Mid-Atlantic Supercar Cruise", this was their second annual gathering. We drove from Annapolis to OC Maryland, it was a good time

You mean something like this?

right, something like that. The only real question is 4 seater or 2. 4 seater wont be able to fit my kids anyways, 5 seater will, but not many hotrods have 5 seats.

my wife likes the vw dune buggy, doesnt have to be fast, but an open airy design.

Nice! Were these with the 100-400? They look like better results than I got when shooting the BA's with my 1D4/100-400 combo.

Thanks! All were taken with the 100-400L except for the prop plane cluster shot, that was with the 24-105. I was really happy with the results of the 100-400. I shot 1,386 pics at the show and had very few that weren't keepers...like 50 or so, and several of those were catching the back of someone's head at the last second as I was tracking and shot.
