This isn't a bad thing either. So, we're out of ink in our printer and instead of paying $90 for a new box o' ink, my wife decided to have Walmart print this years Christmas picture for $8. The print didn't turn out half bad either. BUT, they gave her grief because there were 'questions' about the image. Something about not wanting to print professional images without a release! Read about it before and forgot to warn the wife or send her with a release (I'm in the picture I took, didn't even think about it). Granted, for me, this picture isn't the best. Due to my wife and daughter taking WAY too long, and the last minute insistence by my wife that I shave, we missed sunset by about 15 minutes! I was a beautiful golden light too....

So, here's the image.

Again, not the best, but it will get the job done this year. Glad Walmart is stubborn about printing...it helps professional photographers. Still funny nonetheless.

Wally World gave you "Kudos" for saying it looked like a copy of a professional portrait.

I've never had this problem with Walgreens. Maybe my photos for our annual Christmas card weren't as good!!!! :)

You should be proud.....but if Walgreens gave me a hassle I'd never go back there......

Just my .02c worth.....

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Walmart no doubt has a person on staff (minimum wage) who judges the photos they print.

Only by coincidence. They're really protecting themselves (the company) from possible lawsuits.

Pretty much this. It's the only reason they "care". They even have paperwork people fill out absolving them of any liability. My wife had to fill it out. The kicker was when they asked who took the picture, she said "My husband.". They said, "But, isn't that him in the picture with you?". Maybe I shouldn't have cloned out the remote that was in my left hand.

Happened to me at Walgreens a couple years ago.
I had an eagle portrait I wanted printed. The young lady behind the counter asked where I got it. I told her I took it myself, so she went and got the manager. The manager told her "just ask them what lens it was taken with." I told them I used my 70-200 F4L. The manager said, "that's all we need to know."

I can see why they thought that though! That looks way better than they are used to seeing.
Why didn't you use the 2 second timer with your remote, that way you wouldn't have that in there? :)

Nice job on that, and a nice looking family too! VERY cute daughter!:D

"If the DOF is shallow, therefore it must have been shot by a professional" seems to be their thinking.
