According to this website (external link), the 1Ds can use cards up to 8GB, larger if formatted not in the camera.

Works with up to 8? I have never used anything larger than 4 because I had heard anything bigger doesn't work. I have a large stock of 2-4GB Sandisk Extreme and Lexar Platinum cards and just use those.

I bought an 8 GB San disk ultra (I think that's right) and it works just fine.


Gear: 5D3, 6D, 7D, 24-105 f/4L, 70-200 f/4L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 50 f/1.2L, 300 f/4L, tons of other zoom and prime lenses, lots of lighting equipment, and enough patience to get the job done right

Good to know, since those 4GB cards seem to be getting more expensive compared to bigger cards. I was already looking into a CFII-SD adapter and a bunch of SD cards, since they are pretty cheap. And the camera is slow enough it wouldn't make a difference
