ok, it's a given that the 5D3 is the better camera. but i have a specific situation ...
i will keep my 5D2 either way.
i will sell my 1ds2 if i get the 5d3, but maybe keep it if i get the 6D.

what i like about the 6D:
-size and weight
-wifi (looks to be very cool)
-might not have an issue with my 200 f/2 L IS (local canon still has no idea on how to fix the 200 issue)

what i like about the 5D3:
-finally some good AF system in one body (5D2 and 1Ds2)
-i can sell my 1ds2 to recoup some of the cost
-price is mature (down from original SRP, while the 6D will be 2099 for the 1st few months)

i need a push!

Don't know how good is 6D; but 5D3 is more than good enough than my 5D2 for me :-)

You'll not be disappointed. I wasn't, and my last camera was a 1D IV.

I always have another 'older' generation camera as backup, including some Rebal for my 5D2; but this time I want a 2nd 5D3

No 6D or 7D2 for me, no 1Dx either

BTW, 5D3 thread is far more fun than 1Dx thread so far ;)

I am facing the same question, and need to place my order no later than tomorrow, really: I am going to South-East Asia for Christmas and New Year's, and figured I need at least 2 weekends with the new camera to get used to all the features before the trip...;)

What would people want to use the wi-fi for, really? I mean sure it's a cool feature, but will anyone actually try to upload 6MB jpeg's straight out of the camera on the internet?

If high ISO performance was actually better in 6d I would strongly consider this over 5dmk3, but if it isn't, I'm pretty much sold on the 5dmk3..

WiFi is awesome if you want to remote control the camera from a phone or tablet. If you are walking around you're not likely to use that. I believe it is most useful for landscape and architectural type shots where you're setting up a tripod with the camera at a low angle or hard to reach place where looking through the viewfinder (or live view on LCD) is either uncomfortable or impossible.

Also note, WiFi doesn't mean an Internet connection. It means it can connect to a WiFi enabled device, in this case a phone or tablet. It's really for wirelessly controlling the camera and viewing images on a larger screen straight from the camera without the hassle of cables.

This is a good comparison is you're looking for some more opinions:

The one major thing wrong with Ken's review is his discounting the 5D3 autofocus engine in the 5% gap. Ken is a photographer of static objects mostly... Landscapes and such. The 5D3 autofocus alone can be worth the price difference depending on what you shoot... and even with static subjects I've seen reviews that equate increased sharpness in the 5D3 of static subjects to this. I'm a sports shooter, so to me the 5D3 is my poor mans 1DX and I am quite happy with it as an upgrade from 1D3.

thanks guys. i'm going out to pick it up after work today.

-0-

regarding the 6D's wifi, i saw a youtube vid that, if i'm not mistaken, just about made the 6D have a touch to focus functionality (using an external device: android/ios) -it might have been a chuck westfall video. (it's the video where the comments sections talks about his finger nails)

i don't want to look at the video again as i might regret buying the 5D3 :D
