they were only trying to prevent themselves from getting scammed from stolen or invented fake credit cards.
Really? You ordered 2 of the same expensive cameras. You gotta admit thats not normal.
Because you got frustrated on the phone they got more nervous you were a scammer from Nigeria.
If I was buydig I'd done the same thing.

Especially at that price their margins are so thin, so why take a risk?

I agree.

Every e-tailer has the right to ask for proof, just like a brick & mortar store can ask to see your DL while presenting a CC. Lots of stolen CC's being used during the holidays. You know Buydig is legit so give them what they want. When I ordered both my 7D and 5D2 my CC company called my house to verify I was the one ordering. Fraud protection is good for both parties.

There was a story in the news last week of a stolen wallet. The thief ran to Target and ran up $1500 within hours, then immediately went to Walmart across the street and ran up another $1000+ within a half hour. Neither store asked the buyer for ID.

And you have the nerve to admit you are breaking the law by carrying ID/License with false information for.

Where do you live? Most states only require an updated address on file with the DMV. Not a new license.

Have you placed hundreds of orders with them or other retailers? Is this your first order with them?

First time with buydig / beach. Numerous orders with other companies.

After reading everything here I googled "buydig review" and got this:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/BuyDig_Beachtr (external link)

Note to self: Remind me to stay away from buydig!

After reading some of the reviews I will consider myself lucky to get the cameras at the original price offered!

When you have a wife that also shoots ordering 2 becomes very normal

I never got nervous or upset on the phone. I kept my cool everytime. Funny you mention Nigeria, as the female csr had a strong African accent :p

I'm all for security for the consumer / retailer. The request for a copy of my license and credit card (cc) does not prove anything other than I have possession. It still would not prove that I am the correct owner of either if I had found/stolen the wallet that contained both. Sometimes the cc company will call me to verify larger purchases. This has not happened with this purchase yet.

Needless to say the cameras should ship tomorrow and arrive at the house the next :D

There's your answer then. They are extremely cautious with new customers and an order for two bodies of the same type probably set off their alarm bells. Once you do get the order processed you will not have another problem with them on an order. As I said earlier I do buy from them occasionally but they're not my first choice. After that first order with their verification process I have not had any issues with subsequent orders.

It sounds like there were some red flags on your order.

I placed my first order with them in the midst of Hurricane Sandy. They were literally flooded with no phones. They responded quickly to email and provided cell phone numbers to call and ask questions on. I communicated with them alot before I placed the order and they usually responded within minutes.

I ordered a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 24-105 f4L, and a PIXMA Pro Mark II printer. Due to the size of the order, my credit card company placed a security hold until they could verify the purchase. It was of no fault at all of BuyDig/BeachCamera. After my credit card companies security team called me, the order went through just fine.

There was a small issue with the order billing that I take some responsibility for. One email and they fixed it.

My only complaint with BuyDig/BeachCamera is the heavy foreign accents made it harder to communicate verbally. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about and would buy from them again.

For those saying they won't shop at BuyDig, you'll be missing out! They are a reliable company and often have some of the best deals out there.

From the review I read what about these.....

"I purchased a pair of headphones from them on eBay. 3 days later they said it was a "price mistake" and cancelled my order. They held my money for 3 days. I know this was not a price mistake due to the fact that they had listed the item 3 times on eBay in separate auctions hours apart, as well as have the item for that price on their website. They listed this item with the intention of cancelling it from the beginning to create publicity and garner advertising for their website when the deal would be posted on deal websites. Do not buy from Buydig if you actually want to receive your item."

"They will not honor prices advertised on their website and claim that the price has just gone up and the promotion is over even though it is still clearly stated on their website and had been that way for at least the past 3 days. FALSE ADVERTISING!

XX: i have a question on this product http://www.buydig.com …oduct.aspx?sku=CNPRO9000M (external link)
Spalp Mitchell: Thank you for contacting us. How may I help you today?
XX: IT says on the website Limited Time Offer! $100 Instant Rebate on this printer plus $200 mail -rebate on this printer stand alone or $400.00 mail in rebate when purchased with select Canon Slrs

Original Price is $349 it's not reflecting the $100 instant rebate when i add this to the cart
Spalp Mitchell: The price just went up and the $100 instant rebate has ended.
XX: but it still says there is a rebate on your website.
Spalp Mitchell: The website hasn't updated yet. It should update in a few minutes
XX: wow, so you guys aren't going to honor what is advertized for days on your website
Spalp Mitchell: No we cant honor that.
XX: wow, great way to run a business"

"My experience with Buydig through Ebay was very bad. I found that the employees in customer service lacked integrity as they were dishonest with me. Customer service is very hard to work with, so document your discussions and make sure you have yourself covered when it comes to a missing item, lost delivery, or refund. Better yet, buy from a more reputable retailer without so many bad reviews."

and yes there were some favorable reviews, but if they do not honor sales prices they stated.... that is not a good sales tactic

According to the OP's flicker they live in Georgia and the DMV site clearly says they require re-issuance.

"Residents are required to update the address currently listed on their driver's license/permit/ID card within 60 days of moving."

Wow saul still works there. I remember ordering from beach before. I think it was my second order that was held up for some stupid reason like 4 years ago. I had to call them and get my info verified. It took 2 weeks over a holiday weekend to get to me in CA from NJ. I would still buy from them though if they price was right.

Charles,

I too rely on review sites and can understand your concern, but one has to also realize that even B&H and Adorama have bad reviews too.

I guess the point I'm trying to make with these posts is that we're not talking about an unknown store here, or one that is full of bait and switch tactics. Thousands of POTN members have been buying from BuyDig (and Beach Camera which is a subsidiary of BuyDig) for years without any major or repeatable issues....and they are a very reliable company. Personally, over the years, I've bought the following from them:

Canon 30D, Canon 40D, two Canon 5D Mark IIIs, a 50 1.4, a 135L, and a 16-35L. I've bought other things from them as well, but that is all that I can recall off the top of my head.

The OP is obviously having some issues with them right now, which stinks and it's a bummer that he's having a bad experience, but there are always two sides to every story. It's likely that BuyDig is trying to protect itself because something is not matching up, and it's frustrating the OP because he is a legit buyer.

Bottom line: BuyDig (and Beach) are reliable companies to buy from.

Bryan,

Thank you for your reply. I had never heard of Buydig before, but I was aware of Beach Camera. I have bought a couple items from Beach via eBay myself with no problems.

From the other responses here along with yours, it does sound like many feel Buydig is a reputable place to do business with.

Most states issue an updated license or a sticker to be placed on the license. Time limits vary, here in Florida you have ten days to notify the DMV, many states give 30 or more. An address mismatch between state records and the CC company is certainly enough to cause the seller to excersize caution. Classic identity theft scenario. Gain access to credit card info, change billing address, have expensive, sellable items shipped to new address.

CA just tells us to write the new address on the back (from what I recall).
