I will by flying with the following equipment a few times next year.

7D x2
24+105 f/4
70-200 f/2.8
580EXii
17-40 f/4
100mm f/2.8
400mm f/2.8 or 300 f/2.8
15" wide screen laptop
Battery chargers, power strip, laptop cord, batteries, etc...

Currently my Loewpro back pack holds everything but the 300 or 400. The camera store I rent them from gave me a smaller bag that just holds the lens and has a shoulder strap instead of the big hard case.

It works but the backpack front pocket bulges so much with all my accessories I won't fit in the overhead storage of the smaller commuter planes I take. So I have to sit with my feet on it.

So does anyone know which roller case will hold all my stuff and is carry on compatible?

Carry on compatible will be tough with even the 300 or 400 + body + 1 more lens alone.

Check out the think tank airport series bags, not sure how big they are dimensionally but it should fit all of the above

EDIT: looks like All the airport series will be to specs of carry ons.

I used a Airport TakeOff in July for a 2 week trip to S Africa. I carried 2 Nikon bodies D3s and D300s with grip, 200-400, 70-200, 24-70, 60 macro, and 2 speed lites. Had no problems fitting in the over head, a 300 should fit fine in this roller not sure about 400. Before I made the switch I know I had to use the Airport Security. My 15" Macbook Pro fits in the front pocket of the Airport Takeoff.

I have the Think Tank Airport Airstream. Fabulous bag, but too small for two big lenses and two bodies and the rest of that list. The next size up is the Airport International, which may hold it all, and is less likely to have to be gate-checked on the smaller planes.

The big thing about the TT airport series is the built-in locks, and lots of them. The airstream version has a built-in security tether locked into the frame of the bag (for tethering to an immobile object), a three-number TSA combo lock that the main-compartment zipper tabs lock into, AND another combo-lock tether to use to attach an additional bag, or laptop case (which can slide into a front expandable pouch. Very, very well-designed and the wheels roll smoothly. The telescoping handle feels a little wobbly, but I hear that doesn't translate into un-sturdy, as long as you don't pick up the bag by it.

The TT website has lots of good info.

Think Tank also stands behind their product! I needed a replacement handle for my Airport Takeoff that is a couple of years old and they overnighted it to me at no charge! Love the product and the company!
