Saw this today, was being used as a guy's work truck.

Turns out, his father brought it brand new in 1948 and he's only the second owner...all original apart from the colour (was Blue originally)...

He also has a Desoto Diplomat, a Chrysler Imperial and a Plymouth Belvedere (all late 50's) tucked away too...

beautiful looking truck, he takes good care of his vehicles. is that thing on the fender to carry pipe? does it extend to the rear fender? and how does the door open?

Yeah, it's for pipe, yeah, it does go all the way to the rear fender (called a guard outside the US), and as it's a RHD, it's probably not a problem...

I think he said his father brought it as a work vehicle originally (it was brought over for the Airforce in 1947, but sold in 1948 unused as surplus) so, i'm guessing the pipe holders have been on for a while too...

Pretty good advert for Chevrolet trucks...been a working vehicle for 64 years and never broke down, still on the original motor...

Mind you, that could be down to being owned by a Kiwi, they have a history with American machinery....Indian motorbikes and NASA come to mind...;)
