Hiked the Smokys a few weeks ago. Here's a trail that is not heavily traveled.

This is a very nice shot. Like the contrast between the light and the shadows.

Do you go there often?

I'm planning a couple weekend trips solely for photography in Late JAN/early FEB hoping to get some snow, but I dont know where the best spots are. I'm hoping there are some good trails in the Catalooche area since that will save me almost 2 hours driving vs going to cade cove area.

This trail goes for approximately 7 miles. Many parts look like the pic posted.

I've been to the Smokys twice. There are so many trails to hike I suggest to purchase a map and do a little research. Many higher elevation trails will most likely be closed during the winter. This trail is called Grapeyard trail and should be open year round. It is in the Greenbriar area of the park.
