USB 3.0 CF Reader for new iMac

Got my new iMac on order and therefore need to replace my Firewire card reader with a shiny new USB 3.0 one. I was going for the Lexar but noticed this review on Amazon.

Huh, I have heard of some incompatibility issues with USB 3 and how its not as universally plug and play as USB 2 is. But I say just order one and try it. If it doesnt work Amazon has a great return policy.

Good point but this isn't much of a confidence booster: "Once I inserted the card back into my camera, the data on it was corrupted and I lost all my pictures."

That could have been due to a number of reasons. For all we know it could have been the card. The first couple of times you use it try it with sample pictures.

You're right, one review of that ilk should not be taken as fact for all. I will buy and test within the return period. Unless anyone knows of a better USB 3.0 reader?

No first hand experience but this one gets good reviews. Taken from a different review of the product you linked:

I have the Delock usb 3.0, It is durable and not made of plastic have not no issues with any cards.

Both the wife and I use Lexar USB 3dual slot reader for cf and sd without any problems on our rmbps

I use the Transcend one on my 2012 MBP and Windows Desktop without issues.

Good point about the firmware update. We did that for UDMA 7 so we could use 1000x Lexar cards. That could be part of why we don't have problems using the readers with our Macs.

I don't have a mac though, but it's another option to try. Heads up though, the cord that comes with it is only like 2 feet long.
