He is just a GWAC!!!!! You have to love this though, "New York Post freelance photographer." So, does he work for New York Post or not? Look, for those of us who shoot a lot of paid works in various situations, I am sure we often think about what we should do when comes to shooting the photos versus saving lives. Or should we capture events in their no so glamorous manners. For this photog, he thought it was cool to capture a man being crushed to death by a train. All for what? Maybe $100 from New York Post. He didn't have enough shooting experiences to even ponder the ethical aspect of photography. One thing for sure, he won't be sleeping well at night..... I call him an idiot....

Again, is funny that he claimed he tried to stop and alert the train driver with his flash. For crying out loud, does he know how many tourists taking photos in the subway.... The train driver may as well think that he was just taking photos, like any other tourists. It is kind of idiotic that he is blaming the train driver for not stopping the train because he fired more than 49 shots with the flash on. How about he stopped taking photos and waving this hands to alert the train driver??? Yeah, he will sleep well at night for sure....

Driver might have been blinded by the flash, waving his arms would not have done much IF that was the case.

I honestly don't know who's worse. The photographer, The Post, or NBC asking the dead man's family how they felt about the photo.

WTF?! Why there's no one tried to help him get up? - I think the photog should have helped him instead of taking pics if no one else is around. This is just ridiculous!!!!

There were others around apparently, that's the problem, I mean heck, someone(s) filmed the incident that started the whole thing, where were they at...everybody is blaming the photographer as though he was the only 1 there that could have helped the guy...on a subway platform in NY...seriously...blame him yes, but temper your anger and also direct it towards the other by standers who did nothing...

Evidently many others were doing that. Waving your arms isn't going to do much unless the train was planing to stop anyway which this one seemed not to be doing. Trains take a long time to stop.

One thing that does pop up from the photo though. Just behind him is a gap presumably to another track, why not just stand in the gap until the train passes? This guy wasn't thinking very well either.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

probably hard to think straight when you have 800,000 pounds of train heading for you at 50mph.

True enough, but this guy was down there for some time. (20 seconds to some say a minute)

I don't approve of the Post using the photo. As far as taking the photo photographers instinct. The
victim here was drunk and picked a fight with a lunatic. The only way your going to help this guy is bend
over the platform and try to pull him up. Now think about this your trying to pull up a drunk with a nut
behind you. I'm seventy-three and if I'm on that platform "Sorry Charlie". So if your there and thinking
the drunk can pull you down or the lunatic can give you a push. Talk is cheap.

Let's do some math here. The so-called photographer fired 49 shots with the flash on. This should give us a clue how much time he has to save or not be able to save this man. What body or flash system that could fire 49 shots with flash enabled? 1d body with 10 fps? Let's assume he was shooting at 5fps the least. He has 10 sec there. What sort flash system he was using to allow it to fire continuously for 10 sec or 49 shots??? Built-in camera flash?? 10 sec is a lot of time in a situation like this. Your brain kind of kicks into high gear and making the right decision. To shoot or to help this man.

I thought about that too, but it still doesn't get past:

Instead of helping in some way. If he was so afraid why didn't he run the other way. Instead he stood there and took the picture.

If his claim is to be believed, he wasn't standing there but running to the event. We'll just have to wait for the security footage to be leaked and all the talking heads discussing every nuance to really know what happened.

There were many people on that platform and no one came to the victims aid. If I
had been there given the circumstances I just would have turned my back. I'm more
upset with the Post than the photographer. By the way everyone is now showing the
photo.
