I have had a 7D for going on two years now and since I shoot with mainly prime lens now I wondered how they would look and perform on a FF body. So I bought a 5D from Adorama and have been taking pics around the house and yard the last few days.

I have to admit as different as the primes behave on each of the bodies has me thinking that keeping both may not be such a bad thing after all.:D

Here are a couple of pics of my youngest using the 5D/135L and of the 7D using the 85 f/1.8. Both photo's were taken at f/2 for comparison.

it's a good thing to keep both.
the 5D has more bokeh, yet the 7D has a small chromatic abberation with it. But, it can still be easily fix.

500 shots? Keep 5!

Both look great :) Keep the FF, you'll come to love it. This is coming from someone who switched from a 300D to a 5DII (WHOAH).

Complete sidenote, but don't you love the push-button lens hood on the 85 f/1.8? My 80-200 f/2.8 has one, and I can't get over how great it is over screw-type hoods.

Just sold my 7d this weekend but shot this combo for a yr and loved it. Going 5d3 in a few weeks but kept the 5dc because it's amazing. The creaminess that thing spits out is just awesome!

I will absolutely keep the 5D. For the $499 I paid for it, it's well worth it and then some. I swore that once I saw a 5D under $500 I would take a chance and am glad I did.

About the only wish I have was that the outer focusing points were more reliable. The 7D and 1D series has really spoiled me with how accurate those points are on those bodies. But I did know about that particular weakness going in so I will learn to live with it.

The push button hood is nice. But I've had to chase it down a few times when shooting action near a high school or college wrestling match when the action gets a little to close.;)

Are these straight out of camera jpegs? The 7d pic seems sharper and a little punchier to me. Colors are different between the two cams as well. I prefer the 7d pic.

I'd definitely keep both. You may like using one or the other for different things. And it never hurts to have a back-up.

I just got a 5DIII, but not letting go of the 40D!

The differences could have something to do with the lens each was shot with, as well as the body.

Quite true, the 135L seems to have had some damage to it as well, maybe that has something to do with it. I just bought a 5d and it should be coming soon, waiting to see what I can get out of it.

I am uploading both pics in their raw format so anyone who cares to do so can download the pics and compare them in the unaltered condition.
