Here's a couple from shooting basketball for the first time; I decided to shoot during the times that I was not playing.

I must say it is a lot of fun shooting sports, and I feel playing basketball helps with knowing spots and anticipating what's going to happen next.

C&C more than welcome. Be honest please.

All were shot with my 60D with a 50mm 1.8, probably not the best for sports.
Luckily, my gym is decently lit. I was able to keep my ISO between 1600-2000 at f/1.8-2.8 and 1/640ss-1/800ss.

You did great for your first time. One thing you have to do,for indoor is custom white balance, it,will clean your colors up. If you need help, send me a pm.
My standard setting when I used a 50mm for basketball were shutter 1/640, f/2.0, single point focus, ai servo, partial metering, high burst, iso varies, for proper exposure, usually 2000-3200, and custom white balance. I did see you sometimes you had those, settings. Again white balance is key indoors, but you did great.

actually not bad for first time shooting indoor sports with an inexpensive lens. If you shot in RAW you can easily adjust the WB

Not bad at all, Chad... Glad to know that you had decent light in the gym... I've shot at a few with very poor lighting which didn't yield too many keepers... Nonetheless, this set it good... More so that you were just using the nifty-fifty!!! Anyhoo... Keep on shootin'!!!

:D

PS. #2 is my fav...

Some nice captures, but a little dark. I'd bump that ISO up to 3200.

Thanks to POTN, I had a better idea of where to keep my settings. I'll be sure to try custom white balance instead next time.

Thanks Watt! Yeah only shoot in raw now. I adjust all the WB in LR4 in PP

Yeah. I'll definitely bump the ISO a bit more. I was surprised by how clean ISO 1600-2000 was. 3200 probably won't be too bad with the 60D either.
