Great video of the F-35B! Apparently they like to take off with the air brake deployed? I wonder what that's all about?

With the F-35B (the one taking off with the airbrake) that's the air intake for the STOVL engine which is used to shorten the takeoff run for carrier ops I believe.

Interesting video. But I'm surprised how open the Navy and Lockheed is about this plane while it's still under testing. Back in the 80s and 90s when I was hired by Rockwell (B-1 program) and Lockheed Skunk works, everything was sooooooo secret.
