I was bored at work today, so I hiked up a little hill and took some pics of the valley. While I was up there, I tried taking a stereo photo and this is how it turned out. Sorry for the poor image quality, but its just my little point and shooter camera that I carry with me.

So, here it is:

Any suggestions on how to do these type of shots better?

I'd say that was a good job for a first attempt! Very neat!

This is a tip-top first attempt, Daniel! :-D Good eye for a stereo subject with clear and pleasing layers and depth.

A bit of technical stuff. There is a window violation in the lowest quarter of the shot. There is also a slight vertical misalignment. If you want I can repost your shot with corrections made. What software are you using? I recommend Stereo Photo Maker which is a free download. Type 3D into the search function and you will find my stereo posts to POTN.

I look forward to seeing more of your stereo work! :-)

Thanks Becca, and Balliolman.

And Ballioman, please do what you want to these images. I learn best from fixing mistakes, so yeah, please do so. As far as software, I didnt use any but just cropped and placed the images together in photoshop. I look forward to seeing your results.

Here I have pushed the image back behind the frame to give a more natural viewing effect. The frame helps fusing the stereo image. The slight vertical misalignment is corrected. The small file size makes detailed correction difficult. If you need to ask for more info, please do so. What do you think? :D

Very good for a first time.
The only thing i would suggest is,a bit larger images,in my screen the 3D one looks very small.
