Hi,

I've been tempted to buy a 5D2 for years but couldn't save enough. Where I live, it's rare that someone has one so it's very very hard to find one used. An opportunity has arisen and someone is selling a 5D2 (local) with 2500 Shutter count, like new for $1600.

I'm thinking of selling my current 600D body + 135mm f/2L - add some cash and buy it. I'll be left with a 50mm 1.8 II though. Now, I know the fact that good glass > body but again, the 5D2 temptation is killing me. Nifty fifty will be good with it for the time I save up for L glass (24-105, 17-40 or 135) later?

keep the 135L and get a used 5D classic. You will regret letting go the 135L for a camera body. Whereas the FF 5D will make that 135L sing.

That's the only thing holding me back, the 135. But again, I never came across anyone with a 5DC either.

The 5DC has great IQ and is my backup - the key is to get one w low miles and counts.
Some say you can get one from $500 but mine is very low in miles and would not consider less than $1000 for it.
If you change lens in field you will miss sensor clean.

I picked my 5D up at Adorama for $499. It is an awesome combo with the 135L.

Here's my youngest playing with the 5D/135L combo.

And here is one I took of him with the 5D/135L. Look at that creamy background.

Have you looked at the WTS section here?...Don't know if you'll find a 5D there but couldn't hurt to look.

I think the 5D2 prices are going to erode more now that the 6D is out and appears to be well received. I would hold out a little longer... don't think we've seen the bottom for the 5D2. The caveat being that if Canon discontinues it, the used bodies could bump back up a little. I just think there is a little more value depreciation to come.

As for the 135... tough one. Its a great lens, but you also have a limited body attached to it when compared to full frame. But if you give it up for a body, you'd really, really be limited with only the 50. With those two lenses today, you have an effective 80mm and 216mm with those two lenses. Going to full frame with the 50, you'd only have 50. Unless you expect to dramatically change what you shoot, and assuming your current lenses suit your shooting, this change would really mess up your kit.

You could possibly get a good 70-200 zoom... but price wise that isn't going to help. You could possibly get an 85 1.8 to replace the 135 until you get back to a way to fund another. Bottom line, I think you'd be unhappy with just a single 50 lens and nothing else.

You're right I guess. Will try to start saving again for a 5D2 or a nervous breakdown, lol :D
