getting into the show was a royal PITA (stood outside for over an hour while my photo pass was being taken care by the tour manager...missed all the previous bands because of this) but i'm glad i stuck it out.

shooting notes...Randy Blythe moves around all the time, but does spend time hunched over the stage monitor, foot on top, howling into the mic. the monitors were pretty high, so a bit of camera lifting was necessary. also, there were strong lights on the stage level that occasionally blasted him, and blew out exposures. for one of the songs, it was all red lighting. not the easiest conditions by any means, but sometimes those yield some good results.

Great work Narlus - were you stuck in one position in the pit?

thanks!

no, we had full run of the pit...there were about 8 or so other shooters and the security guys were busy w/ crowd surfers. but Randy is the clear focal point of the band visually, and the way he holds the mic there's one best angle.

i had a good vantage for when he launched from the drum riser, but the light sucked.

I think you would have been better off converting them all to B&W. Having said that, #3 and #5 are pretty awesome!

Such a rad band with a great show! Recommended to go see if you get that chance.

Nice shots man, I really love that first one!
