I was actually hoping to win the powerball lottery, but some guys in Arizona and Missouri won it. So no 5D III for me (yet).
Like I said before, I don't need to read these post..............

The more I read about the 5D3, the more I knew I needed to get one instead. 1DMKIIn, 5DMKIII, 20D, 50 mm f/1.8, 10-22 EF-S, 28-135IS, 28-75 f/2.8 Tamron, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 100-1400L, 24-105L, 580EXII

But I just couldn't wait any longer. I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago. I continually drooled over the drop dead AF and high ISO capabilities. Near-silent shutter is another benefit. Some people have their 1DX shots here which are sufficiently better to consider it but their shots are boring and could have used a compact or cell phone camera.

You really don't appreciate how good AF can be until you try the 5DIII, and then it is almost impossible to go back to a 5DII. Your post makes me wonder how much better (or not) the 5d III is over the 7D, which I think has very good AF.

I never owned or tried a 7D so someone else might have to chime in. I do have a 5DII and if I am able to use Liveview, I wouldn't really be able to tell much difference between the 5DII and 5DIII. But Liveview for me is an option on a very limited percentage of pictures I take and thus AF in the 5DIII is a game changer. It depends on what you shoot. The 5D3's AF system is better and more customizable, but the 7D is no slouch in this area, either.
