I was actually hoping to win the powerball lottery, but some guys in Arizona and Missouri won it. So no 5D III for me (yet).
Like I said before, I don't need to read these post..............:(

I knew the 5D3 had come out, so I thought, "It's time to finally go full-frame and get a 5D2" since I knew their price had come down. The more I read about the 5D3, the more I knew I needed to get one instead.

I got my used 1DMKIIn in April 2008 when my friend upgraded to a 1D3. It has served me quite well, but so often I found myself wanting more pixels (it's 8.2), and I have wanted more ISO, too. I never wanted to get a 7D and go back to the 1.6x crop factor. When I read the specs on the 5D3, I knew I had found the worthy successor to my 1DMKIIn. I have my FF sensor, killer ISO, and 1DX focus capability all rolled into one body.

1DMKIIn, 5DMKIII, 20D, 50 mm f/1.8, 10-22 EF-S, 28-135IS, 28-75 f/2.8 Tamron, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 100-1400L, 24-105L, 580EXII

Me too ;)

I was actually hoping to win the powerball lottery

Thats the only way I will be able to get the Canon 5DMK111 plus the new Sigma 120-300 2.8 , I might even win enough to get the new Canon 200-400 when it comes out .

Although with Canons latest pricing even a lottery win might not be enough

I had planned on using my tax refund next year to fund most of the cost of moving to a 5D3. But I just couldn't wait any longer. I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago. I continually drooled over the drop dead AF and high ISO capabilities. Near-silent shutter is another benefit.

The only negatives I see is I miss the swivel screen on the 60D and it's bigger and bulkier, but I'm quickly getting acclimated to that.

pretty average looking shots, a lot of lighting problems and exposure needs more time to develop a distinct product. Some people have their 1DX shots here which are sufficiently better to consider it but their shots are boring and could have used a compact or cell phone camera.

I am in the same boat ... I am absolutely thrilled with my 5DIII and am really annoyed that Canon hurt the 5DII so much with the poor AF. You really don't appreciate how good AF can be until you try the 5DIII, and then it is almost impossible to go back to a 5DII.

Your post makes me wonder how much better (or not) the 5d III is over the 7D, which I think has very good AF.

With all the positive stuff every one is saying about the 5d3...I just want to say...

I absolutely love my 5d III

coming from a 5d2 I say the AF alone is worth the upgrade...

I never owned or tried a 7D so someone else might have to chime in. I do have a 5DII and if I am able to use Liveview, I wouldn't really be able to tell much difference between the 5DII and 5DIII. But Liveview for me is an option on a very limited percentage of pictures I take and thus AF in the 5DIII is a game changer.

It depends on what you shoot. The 5D3's AF system is better and more customizable, but the 7D is no slouch in this area, either.

I never owned a 5D2, but I absolutely love my 5D3. The 7D has been regulated to mostly wildlife telephoto use, which it is great for. The 5D3 is used for everything else, except ultra-wide angle shots -- I still have a EFS 10-22 lens for that, as I do not shoot much UWA. If I take only one camera body with me, it is always the 5D3.
