6D is a stellar camera. I've been debating grabbing a crop again for reach/macro; haven't decided what I want yet though...

Even better, I sold my Sigma UWA and found a good deal on a 17-40L for my UWA duties on the 6D...which will also work well for times when I need a general walkaround to accompany my telephoto lens on the 7D. A lot of people told me to just get a 5DIII, but with a 7D I'm already happy with, and the fact I could add one for basically nothing with the sale of a few lenses, I couldn't pass up the 6D, and am very happy with it.

As a crop camera it should have been updated at 18 months and even following the FF body schedule of 3 years, the 7DII is historically late almost doubling that time. That's the problem with playing catch-up. No one else is standing still and as you rush to get something to market to compete with the latest competitors release, they do something silly like release a better model. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Canon would have been better served if they just bit the bullet and came out with a 7D using Exmore technology. What happened? Canon used to be a trendsetter man! Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Actually, I think their trendsetting days ended with the 5Dc. They rode the CMOS wave for a while but sort of stalled out with the 7D and 5DII. THeir latest 70D shows the first innovative thing they have done with the new dual pixel sensor. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Unless you don’t need weather sealing can’t see anyone running off to buy a 7D as it stands now. Time will tell and the 7D is a good choice as a back-up body for many pros. Guess I will stand by when the fire sales starts so I can clean up a good 7D MK1 deal when they release the 7DMK II. Having a 5D Mark III I only need one more back up to polish off my set of three bodies. In a pinch the 7D will do just fine but it will more or less be the camera bag queen.
