6D is a stellar camera. I've been debating grabbing a crop again for reach/macro; haven't decided what I want yet though...

And...looking at your lenses, the only one that you might want to switch out would be the 15-85mm for a 24-105L, which I was able to do for very little price difference.

Even better, I sold my Sigma UWA and found a good deal on a 17-40L for my UWA duties on the 6D...which will also work well for times when I need a general walkaround to accompany my telephoto lens on the 7D.

A lot of people told me to just get a 5DIII, but with a 7D I'm already happy with, and the fact I could add one for basically nothing with the sale of a few lenses, I couldn't pass up the 6D, and am very happy with it.

That is exactly the plan....probably with the 17-40 as well.

I guess the poll should have been:

Guess the YEAR the 7DII will be released

Come on now Canon, are you trying to bore us to death?

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

I suspect that they have the camer near completion, then someone comes out with something that would make it look silly thus sending them back to the drawing board. As a crop camera it should have been updated at 18 months and even following the FF body schedule of 3 years, the 7DII is historically late almost doubling that time. That's the problem with playing catch-up. No one else is standing still and as you rush to get something to market to compete with the latest competitors release, they do something silly like release a better model.

Canon would have been better served if they just bit the bullet and came out with a 7D using Exmore technology.

They got lazy. Actually, I think their trendsetting days ended with the 5Dc. They rode the CMOS wave for a while but sort of stalled out with the 7D and 5DII. THeir latest 70D shows the first innovative thing they have done with the new dual pixel sensor.

I wonder why Canon has taken this long to update the popular 7D, also I wonder how improved it will actually be over the currant 70D that seems to have all the improved functionally over the currant 7D in the line up. Unless you don’t need weather sealing can’t see anyone running off to buy a 7D as it stands now. Time will tell and the 7D is a good choice as a back-up body for many pros. Guess I will stand by when the fire sales starts so I can clean up a good 7D MK1 deal when they release the 7DMK II. Having a 5D Mark III I only need one more back up to polish off my set of three bodies. In a pinch the 7D will do just fine but it will more or less be the camera bag queen.

@ 8fps and 22-25 burst capacity in RAW (and seemingly endless in JPG), I believe the ancient 7D is still top dog fpr APS-C.

The 7D certainly has had a good run and I think Canon milked every last dime out of it. Replacing in 2014 sounds about right. Real question is whether the sensor will be any better.

The more they delay it, the more "awesome" we'll expect to be.
Kind of like a mix of the 1Dx and the Sony A7r in one package.
For $1500. ;)

Because it is still an awesome camera and used by many working pros. If you can't afford or honestly don't need an updated camera then what is the point?

All taken while working Petit Le Mans this past week.

Oh, I'm well seasoned.
Nothing Canon can do will surprise me or disappoint me. They already accomplished that many many times. :D

Better sensors yes, but better cameras?
I'm not quite sure.

Canon still makes top flight cameras. If that were not true, they'd be losing more money than Sony and Nikon. But they are not...
