It would cost more. Video and an AA filter add virtually nothing to the cost of a camera. Removing them would result in much smaller sales volumes, leading to higher prices.
If you don't like video, don't use it.
Hollis, thanks for the reply. It is not about liking, it is about need. I would never use the video. However, the AA filter is there for both stills and video, and, with 24 MP, I don't think it is required, for still photography with most telephoto lenses. I may be wrong, I was hoping someone would correct me, if I am. I am surprised that AA filters add "virtually nothing" to the cost of the sensor, I would have guessed otherwise. I have seen the opinion elsewhere, that video capability adds no cost. I can see how that might be true.
It seems to me that having two different models would add to sales volume. Whether the two models cost the same or different isn't that important to me. The presence of the AA filter, which is required for video, on a sports/birding/wildlife camera, is the issue for me. I was wondering if Canon Marketing might be thinking of two models. I take it that your opinion is "no way". You are probably correct. Wishful thinking on my part.
