Does anyone have any experience with this combo and how effective is it in the Canon 1D Mk IV. Further when I am shooting wildlife at 10 fps with a 16gb udma 7 10000x memory card, does the Eye-Fi slow down the write speed by slowing the buffer.

Thanks for the info
Gavin

I have the 8Gb card and it worked well when I borrowed the IV from CPS. On my 1DmII I shoot RAW+small jpg. I send small jpg to my iPad and RAW stays on the card with the jpg. With the IV you can put RAW on a CF and jpg on the EyeFi. The EyeFi will be noticably slower, your 10fps will fill the buffer while the card attempts to digest all that juicy data. Just remember that the EyeFi is storing and offloading and the storage is not rated as fast as your existing card.
To me the benefit of using the iPad display as well as immediately sending jpg attached to emails is worth the slowdown. You don't need to be concerned with how slow it loads to a computer as long as your CF with the RAW files is downloaded you can reformat the EyeFi in camera. With my 1DmII I need to store RAW on it and it is very slow to transfer the RAW from EyeFi but I just go make a sandwich.

Thanks Chunkyda I was hoping that i could keep the raw images on the cf card and download small versions of the .jpg using the iv 2nd card. Your response now will prompt a call to eye-.fi.
Much appreciated thank you

My understanding is that only some of the Eye-Fi cards are capable of transferring RAW as a feature and that it can be turned off.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.

You do realize that Eye-Fi only comes in SDxC, and Eye-Fi does not officially support the use of CF-to-SD adapters, I hope.

From the Eye-Fi web site:

"Eye-Fi does not support the use of SD to CF card adapters with the Eye-Fi card. Eye-Fi has not tested the Eye-Fi card in cameras designed to use CompactFlash cards and has no explicit knowledge to share about the success of these adapters when used with an Eye-Fi card. We only support the Eye-Fi card in cameras designed to use SD or SDHC cards.

"We are aware that many users want the Eye-Fi card functionality in their CompactFlash-based cameras and have opted to use a CF card adapter to get the functionality offered by an Eye-Fi card. The following list of known issues with CF card adapters is a collection of information gathered directly from customer and blogger descriptions of issues they have experienced. By sharing this information Eye-Fi accepts no responsibility for problems encountered when using the Eye-Fi card and a CF card adapter.

■Wireless range of the Eye-Fi card is noticeably reduced.
■Formatting the Eye-Fi card in a CF adapter has caused the Eye-Fi card to fail.
■File corruption of photos."

Understood, after speaking with Eye-Fi I can use my CF card to store the large CR2 files and then set the 2nd card slot on my camera that uses SDxC cards and have the Eye-Fi transfer those directly to my laptop or Tablet

I attempted to set up ad hoc (routerless) networking from the Eye-Fi Pro to a WinXP laptop a few years ago, and failed in spite of Tech Support help. I was told that WinXP ad hoc was often a problem, but Win7 ad hoc worked. Since buying a new laptop with Win7, I have not attempted to link to the Eye-Fi.
