I am looking for a wireless remote trigger to fire my 50d. I am bhphotovideo and see a couple types.

What I would like (wants, not needs)

    Lcd
    Timer (multi modes)
    Trigger Camera Wirelessly or Wired
    Dual-Function (Focus & Trigger) Release
    Delay Release Function
    Multi-Exposure Mode
    Interval Control
    Long Exposure Control
    LED Indicators--Pre-Focus & Exposure

Again, wish list. I see some by Vello, Hahnel, some others. What are good? what do I need to know, what warnings, What limitations?

Interesting timing on your question! I just finished researching the same thing and found a solution for use with my 40D and 60D.

Along with what you have on your list, I wanted:

  • Reasonably priced
  • RF rather than IR (doesn't require line of sight)
  • Something that allowed mounting a flash and having all of the Canon auto flash capability pass through to the flash

I ended up with this Yongnuo YN622 Wireless set at Amazon (external link).

I didn't double check against your list, so you may want to do that. After reading a large number of reviews, I ordered and received the set this past week and tested it out. Works nicely and I am pretty pleased.

I hope the information is useful.

Doesn't work for a 60D so I didn't buy one but it would work for your 50D (I have the wired version for my 30D and it works as good as the canon jus for a lot less $$$)

Had a 6D....
Then had a daughter....
Now have an SL2 and Mavic Pro.... Man life changes.
I would encourage you... To just go for it.
