Hellooo!

The other night I got a surprise invitation to the press launch of a new show by acclaimed Spanish director Laila Rippol and featuring Juanjo Artero ... it was worth getting up early on a public holiday for ...

The press event was in a rehearsal space in a suburb of Madrid, rather than a proper theatre so the lighting isn't as spectacular as it might be, but it was easy to work with if nothing else, bright enough and not horribly coloured ... the show itself and the actors were great ...

Very nice images, but quite a lot of noise.
Did you add this in post? In my experience, a 5D2 should perform cleaner at ISO6400…

Oh, and the images are AdobeRGB. Not the best for web.

Possibly just the contrast brought out the noise, that and I don't particularly like the look of Noise Reduction so I avoid using it ... I didn't add any extra on purpose though!

Probably the sharpening settings as well.
What software did you use?

I'd like to give the CR2 of #7 a try if you wouldn't mind?

LR3 for the initial process, PS5 for sharpening, resizing and tagging ...

#7's a slight crop so maybe shows it even more, but if you want to have a look at it, PM me the appropriate email and you can ...

My quick edit (xported at 800px, sharpening for screen: Standard), and the zipped .xmp file:
Used camera profile "Camera Neutral invariate". If you don't have that, "Camera neutral" should be close…

Oh, I added some grain. ;)

Impressive, you got it so clean you had to add some grain ... thanks for the tips and taking the time to do that, René.

No problem.
If you DL the .xmp, you can take a look at the settings (don't forget to save your own settings first!)

Main differences will be in the sharpening and NR values I'd guess.

Edit: Oh crap. I used LR4. You have LR3.
I'll do a LR3 version as well. Otherwise it's kinda useless to you ;)

LR3 version and xmp as a zip.
Tried to get it close, but rendering is different.

Had to save at a lower quality setting, as the file was over twice as large from LR3 then from LR4. Almost cannot imagine that "noise" and metadata are the only reasons for that, so I'll have to look into that when I have time.
