I used a flash in each corner of one side. I had more ghosting then I wanted so I'm going to add one more speedlight in each corner to overcome ambient. They went and improved the lighting this year in the gym, what a bummer.

#1 would be excellent... from the other side of the goal. #2 is same deal, need the player driving AT you or at least in your general direction. #4 is weird. #5 has no faces. #6, same as #1. On the plus side, anticipation is great, you're getting the action, just not the necessary angle of it. Exposure and sharpness look good.

Elrey,
Thanks for the cc. Just curious why you think #6 would be better from the other side? Would I not lose the defenders face? Thanks for your help.

Those pictures are great but I have a noob question. So each time you snap a picture, the flashes go off. Is that not a little distracting? About how many pictures do you take in one game? I've never been in this situation in a high school game so I was just wondering. I really see what my pictures lack.

Yes the flash goes off each time a snap a picture. I've never had anyone say that the flash is distracting. I have the permission of the AD and the coach to use it. The players don't notice it. I don't however, take a picture when the are shooting free throws. I would say that I shoot 75-100 pictures per game. It really depends on the action.

If you're shooting for the team in black, it's fine, but I was assuming you were shooting for the team in white.

Your are right, I'm shooting for the team in white. I just thought seeing both of their faces was good but I see what you mean in getting all of their face. Thanks!
