I am considering purchasing an Einstein to go along with my 600EX flashes. Paul Bluff has suggested I get a CyberSync to plug into the PC port of my camera body and then another CyberSync to plug into the Einstein. I could then leave the ST-E3-RT on top of my camera body. The problem I see with that is that the CyberSync would just be dangling from my camera body.

I'm wondering if anyone else has found a cleaner solution to the above. I remember someone posting some photos of a shoot-through transceiver that sits between the camera body and the flash, but I can't find the photos anymore.

When I shoot Weddings, I would typically have 2-3 Speedlites high upon light stands in the corner of the venue using Cyber Sync Receivers. I would still have a Speedlite on my camera (let's say that is your ST-E3), I would have my Cyber Sync Transmitter connecter via the camera's PC Sync (located on the side of most DSLR's) and have it attached to the speelite via a 1"x1" piece of velcro. This way, I still have E-TTL using my On-Camera Speedlite and the Cyber Sync Transmitter also fires the other Speedlites.....

So basically, you could attach your Cyber Sync Transitter atop your ST-E3 via velcro.....

Yep, I did the same thing and velcro'd it to my speedlite or ste3rt. Worked great.

If you don't need the cyber commander and want something a little smaller, you can just get the CST Trigger. It has a PC port that I believe you can use to trigger your Einstein...

I usually have my CST on my camera, and cyber commander in my pocket so I can meter and adjust lights...

Would you mind sharing a photo? Somehow I have an image of a Frankenstein looking solution.

Use a CST with a locking PC cable on the camera. Use the Cyber Commander to control the lights remotely. i.e. have it in your pocket. STE3 is in your hot shoe.

I put a loop (girl's hair band) on my camera strap to hold the CST. Velcro also works.

Here is the cable: http://www.flashzebra.com/products/0030/index.shtml (external link)

And you will need one of these as well: http://www.amazon.com …ords=2.5+to+3.5mm+adapter (external link)

Mono is better than stereo but both seem to work.

What about using something like this (external link) and attach the CyberCommander to the vertical rail of the L-plate? Then you can fold the CyberCommander down to run parrallel with the lens to get it out of the way (inasmuch as you can).

That looks like a it could be a good solution, but I can't make any sense of what accessories are needed. It's also a lot more expensive than an elastic band!

From what I can tell, I would need:

AND

http://reallyrightstuff.com …aspx?code=FA-QRCS2&type=0 (external link)

Does that make sense to anyone?

Hmm. When I got my QRM it came with the little cold shoe adapter. the price is the same but I don't see it listed as included. I'm pretty sure it comes with one so you don't need the second item listed. A quick call would clear it up.

But, yeah, it's not a rubber band-type solution. This would be safer against bumping into things, etc., but it's not cheap.

Maybe someone else makes cold shoe rail mounts that aren't part of an expensive proprietary system.

I can understand you're steering away from velcro and/or a rubber band, but I did that for a couple of years before I got the Pocket Wizard ControlTL stuff. Lots of weddings, etc. and it worked fine.

The velcro is OK but the best is velcro with a rubber band around the flash and CST for added security.

The RRS option is expensive and you've got some hug thing sticking out from your camera.
Actually, if I was going to be using it all the time, I'd be tempted to tape the CST to the camera strap and then just plug it into the PC connection when necessary.

Thank you for that post. You made me realize I won't be using the Einstein that much anyways so an elastic band isn't as bad as it sounds. When I was younger, I remember my dad showing me that things can be over-engineered when often a simple solution is adequate or even better.

I placed an order yesterday for one Einstein, the transmitter and receiver combo and a speed ring. I'll post some photos for the other newbies on this forum when I get everything (it won't be until after Christmas unfortunately).

Here are the two approaches I use when necessary;
The hair band on the camera strap can be easy to pull loose. The thick rubber band around the flash head is less likely to come off. Either work, not high tech, but functional.

BTW, that's an RF-603. My Cyber Sync stuff is in the car in the equipment case and I was too lazy to get it. :-)

I'm assuming you're serious. :D

I find the pics on this forum the most useful because I have a hard time visualizing how people describe things.

I bought quite a bit of stuff for myself "for Christmas" so I'll be doing a few product shots. (I finally bit the bullet and ordered two Billy bags today).

Yes, I am serious. I want to see gear. All of it, even stuff wrapped and velcroed together.
