Basically another variant of the Neewer / Shoot / Generic Third-Party. Yes, it will do the time-lapse. I'm not a big fan of the ones with the metal shrouded tip, I've had more than one get jammed up in the socket.

They basically do the same as the more expensive Canon TC-80 N3. The only real difference is that the connector Canon uses is better.

Hahnel Giga T Pro Wireless Timer Remote

This. By accident I've ended up with the Hahnel, the Canon TC-80N3 and the ioShutter for the iPhone by Enlight Photo. Phone app and cable rocks but as a stand alone kit the Hahnel works great, battery life isn't too cool but it's manageable. The Canon is the best actual piece of kit, but is expensive and very limited by comparison.

Put it this way, my day job will be running a set of cameras doing timelapse soon and without having phones hanging everywhere, we'll be buying some Hahnel kits to sort the camera controls.

Cheers, Dave.

What issues are you having with the battery life? I use mine fairly regularly for 2-3 hour timelapses and haven't had to change them yet. I've probably had them coming up for 3 years.

I don't do a lot of timelapse photography, so I'm holding out for ML for 5DIII Final Release, rather than investing in new hardware. ML timelapse works great on 5DII.

Just a related question for everyone on this thread; Good timelapse clips require hundreds or even thousands of shutter releases for a few minutes of timelapse video. Are people here not worried about racking up tens or hundreds of thousands of shutter releases on their new and expensive 5DIII cameras? Or is there a method to get timelapse exposures without actually firing the shutter, like in live view mode?
