Hey guys, I attempted to search for this and didn't get much. Maybe I'm using the wrong terms or keywords. But yes, I attempted to find it myself before bugging you guys.

When viewing a picture I just took, I like to zoom in to the eyes to see the focus on it. However, it takes multiple presses, or sometimes I hold the +magnifying glass button until it zooms in enough. Is there a way to set it so that pressing the zoom button will double or triple how much it zooms in normally? Would make it much quicker to check my focusing.

I have a 5D mark II. I just recently got it so I'm still learning all the custom functions and everything. :D

No, you can't do anything else than what you do now. But you can maintain a zoom level while reviewing different images.

Don't have a 5DII but wonder if one of the CF';s would handle it. Maybe C. Fn IV-3 Assign SET button; option 4 Image replay setting or the "My Settings" button????

No, you cannot set a particular zoom value so that when you zoom, it automatically goes to that value without multiple button presses.

The 1DX (perhaps the 5D3 as well) has a feature that allows this though. You can set it to zoom 100% to the focus point during review.

Yes the 5D3 has this feature, its very very useful. I have mine set to zoom 100% around the focus point with one press of the magnifying glass.

Load Magic Lantern onto your camera. Then you can have it default to 100% zoom when you press the review button.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just did this on my 5DII 2 days ago.

Magic Lantern is wildly underrated on this forum.

More photographers here than "hackers"... Nothing wrong with that. Want to learn about the art of things, come here, want to learn whats under the hood and tweak how it operates, go to another board. ;)

I love Magic Lanterns zoom. One click to 100%. It does get annoying though because I dont always want to go to 100% and zoom out. Its a trade off.

You can still zoom in/out as before and I think the zoom smoothness is much improved over Canon's default movement.

ah thanks a bunch for the info guys!!! Too bad the 5D2 doesn't have the feature like the 5D3 does. I'll look more into ML and see if I really want to install third-party software strictly for the use of the enhanced zoom.

You'll probably find that it does a lot of other stuff you never realized you needed until you saw it. How about a built-in intervalometer or built-in HDR or focus stacking settings?
