The Official "What Photography-Related Gift Are You Getting This Holiday" Thread 2012

I don't know if this is started already, but I guess I can just merge the threads anyway (being a Moderator ).

This year I got myself a Canon 40mm lens, the "Pancake," because it's new and I was curious. I found it very interesting, quiet. I have the 50 1.4, but wanted something I can use with my 5D that is a little quieter. But I doubt I'll love it. It's just for fun.

And I got an S100, but decided to give it away to a friend who needed it more.

So, what are you getting yourself or someone you love photography-related this holiday?

For my anniversary on the 16th my bride got me the domke F7 something bag... it's the nice deep one, slightly larger all the way around than the F2 original....

Its not the REAL holiday but as close as it comes, especially for photo gear this time of year....

Nice. I almost bought another bag but I couldn't justify it. If anything, I need to ditch some. The F7 is a great bag. Use it well.

Not sure yet Suzy, still deciding between a f2 200mm or a f4 200mm.

Sounds great, either one. Depends what you're shooting.

i like shooting macros, i think either one would work and give me a little more working room than my current 105mm.

Wow, hadn't thought of that yet. So busy on many other things.

May have to fix that.

Jim, I didn't know what I wanted either. I'm slowing down on my purchases. So the little lens was really a good start.

Then unless you need the f/2 for something else, save your money and get the f/4. You'll probably want to stop down with the f/2 so you get DoF deeper than a single atom in macro mode.

It's not that I don't know what I want, with everything going on right now I had not considered me and a camera gear purchase.

Really in a "it's not about me" mode right now with family (major) and work (pain in the butt) issues. Need to set aside some time to contemplate what to do. With any luck, that should be about St. Patricks Day..........
