I have both, but prefer the RS-7, as it seems to stay on my shoulder a lot better then the RS-4.

I am going to go with the RS-7 I think, and I am going to get the manfrotto RC-2 adapter piece

Good call, but make ~sure~ you go with Black Rapid's FR-T1 tripod fastener for that RC2.

No they can't, when you cinch up the luma labs strap it is drastically shortened holding the body tight against you and stopping it from moving, it cannot swing around like it does on the black rapid straps

Do the straps not come with the fastener? Just found the Black Rapids and find them interesting.

Also, is there an option to mount to the straps holders already on the camera? Those at least don't unscrew or interfere with using a tripod.

the straps come with a fastener for the camera but they make a special adapter that works with the quick release plate on mafrotto tripods so it can clip to the bottom

I got ur idea. The fasten idea of cinch is good.
But BR can also lock the fastener connector on the strap, and if you add up a chest brad, it can't be more staple.
I often cycle with my BR-7 and have no problem swinging around.

BTW, I do a lot street photos and may travel to some crappy areas, the idea to hang my camera behind my back is not a good choice I guess......
