So word (and lots of pictures) is out that a pair of barn owls are making a daily appearance in late afternoon at one of our local regional parks here in the SF east bay area. I happened to be planning to hit the area after recent rains to see how the marsh looked anyway. The only bad thing for me is that the parking area is a considerable distance from the area where the owls show up, and being a wheechiar user, I can't pack my tripopd, 300 2.8 and tc's etc all that way. So I put on the 100-400 and wheeled down the path to see what I could get. There were at least 20 other people there, and I was seriously out gunned glass-wise. Obviously I wish I had a new 600mm f4 MK2, but I'm still pretty happy with what I got considering the available light etc. Enough babbling...my barn owl shots from Coyote Hills R.P.
Sighted...the sound of machine gun shutters filled the air!

As was actually on the way back to the car when I got these last two. I didn't check my settings and the shutter was at 250, but they still came out ok.

Next time I am bringing a friend to help haul some gear for me, and see if I can borrow a buddy's 500mm!
