The White Morph Reddish Egret was a bird in which I wanted to find and get pictures of from the first time I saw one. Reddish Egrets are one of my favorite species, and finding a Morph that was also awesome looking and unique really intrigued me.

Early last summer (May I believe) my father and I found this one. The bird was quite cooperative and let us hang around him often times coming to close to fit in frame. Unfortunately, it was a gray and dreary day so exposure was tough. Combine that with being one of my first times using the 500mm and its safe to say there are a few shots I wish I could have a re-do on! All were taken with a 7D-500mm combo and handheld.

In these images, this Morph is hunting through seaweed beds and eating pipefish.

Enjoy

-Jason

Lovely! I really like the last one. His intensity is quite something.

Beautiful work Jason. They're stunning in their breeding colors, I'd love to find one like that.

Outstanding shots, Jason, you did well to get these so fine on a dull day. Number 1 is awesome
