"...Zeiss Lens Is Just A Myth, & What's The Point With The Most Advance AF Camera But Shooting Manual..."

Lucky all above are just another bullsh*t and I'm a very very happy 1st time Zeiss owner!!!

Just get my 1st Zeiss 1.4/35 ZE this morning, and I use it with 5D3 all day today. After using 24L II & 85L II for sometime now, I thought nothing can get better than two of Canon best prime lenses; but the Zeiss is just unbelievable BEAUTIFUL - I'm not talking about it's built (a bit overrated Vs Canon L), but Zeiss IQ!

1. From f/1.4 to the max f/16, the photo is SHAPE all-the-way. Wow, I actually can use f/16 without worry about 'soft'.
2. Shooting without a CPL in front the Zeiss, except the sky is not deep blue, everything else look better than CPL combo!
3. Shooting with 5D3 AF conformation, close portrait @ f/1.4 - I can count the eyelashes!

Can't upload anything as my PC just failure to start.

Anyway, more Zeiss for me for sure :D

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!

Sure, if you shoot test charts. Otherwise, who cares.

Great buy to op. I saw on your other thread you got it for 16,000 yen? Or you mean 160,000 yen? Either way that's awesome! I had a field day last time I was in Japan. Can't wait to go back!

Only ¥146666, which just a bit over $1700 and cheaper than B&H.

Now my favors combo is 1.4/35 + 85L. Love the portrait shoots come out from the Zeiss.

May have to sell 24L II as unlikely I'll use it much from now on.

Thank :)
I think I'm playing safe and get a Makro-Planar 2.0/50 - sick to see QA regarding which 50mm is the best :D

I am sure we would all love to see the test shots that you base this on.

About a month ago I got the 21 2.8 and it is a very different look when compared to the Canon L that I have in similar FL. I get it now and am looking forward to the next Zeiss. Probably the 35 1.4. Though the 15 2.8 is calling my name! Choices choices!

I use zeiss lenses on a 1DX lol - I see MF as a huge part of the enjoyment of photography - something to take me away from just pointing and shooting which I'd be prone to do previously with AF (though obviously there is a place for AF)

I got the 35/2 ZE and its probably my favourite lens atm - love the focal length. Considered the 1.4 at the time but decided to go with the F2. Your post almost makes me want to think of getting the 1.4 eventually :)

I spoke to the shop keeper with very limited English, seem the 1.4/50 is the best seller - as most other Zeiss is just 'too expensive'. And there are many 1.4/50 haters out there ;)

I do need to trust 5D3's AF confirmation than my own eyes - but old habit does need more time to over come :) Zeiss on 1Dx should work better than 5D3.

Some people own both 2/35 & 1.4/35, and said that 2/35 has 'more Zeiss look'. But I just want a faster 35mm lens.

Thank God Zeiss doesn't have any super telephoto lens any more; otherwise I do need to work more :)

Not sure what is Zeiss holy trinity, but I have next 12 month to figure out :D

I loved the 2/35 ZE when I had it, but I was losing too many shots via MF, even with the manual focus screen. Great value, and some amazing texture out of that thing. Love the feel of it too.. Glad you like the 1.4! :)

I just turn off my 5D3's 'rapid fight' with portrait shoot, but I still have trouble with landscape shoot.

I would love to find someone local who has this lens to try it out. This lens is absolutely beautiful.

However, my question is: why do people talk about the Canon L Prime's AF like if its a negative feature or a handicap to taking good pictures to justify a Zeiss? If MF is a positive feature/reason why people prefer Zeiss, you can do that on the Canon lens too, just flip that little switch to MF only.

After I burn through my Lens budget on the 24-70II next year, the Zeiss 50 is next on my list. :)
