Looking to buy a comfy versatile shoulder bag. Not too big, just enough to fit my needs. I currently use a Think Tank holster bag when I go out, but this limits me to one lens. I also have a LowePro backback, but this is for road trips, hikes, vacations, etc.

All I need to fit is my 5DII (sometimes gripped), my 540ex flash, and three lenses: 24-70mm, 70-200mm f2.8II, and 50mm, all three with hoods. My preference is to have the ability to keep any one of the three lenses on the body while in the bag.

Thanks!

I'm using a Thinktank Restrospective 20. Works well with the gear you specify. I'll frequently leave my gripped 7D/5Dm2 with the 70-200 on and have a lens on each side. You can keep your 27-70 in one side, and flash/50mm in the other.

Nice, I like. That goes right to the top of my list. Thanks.

Talk about timing....about an hour ago I decided to take a quick drive to my local camera shop to check out the Retrospective 20. As it turned out there just so happened to be a camera show going on that I didn't know about.

After registering at the entrance, I checked out the bag on the shelf and said to myself there's no way I can fit my 5D in the bag WITH the 70-200L attached. It even says on the product tag that only a medium size zoom lens will fit attached to the body. There was no mention of a fitting a long zoom lens attached to the body, contrary to the TT product catalog.

Long story short, the TT rep was there at the show and I questioned him about it at his table. To address my doubt, he walked me over to the Canon rep's table, slapped a 70-200 lens onto a 5D and stuck it in the bag. Five minutes later I was walked out of the store with the new bag and a feeling of statisfaction. I wish everything was this easy.

Did I mention the bag was 20% off because of the show? I paid $134 plus tax. This is one purchase I'm glad I make locally instead of ordering from B&H.

yes, the bag is deceptively big. No problem with my reverse hooded 70-200.

Thinktank Restrospective 20 is great esp. for camera + 70-200 2.8 attached.

Not so sure I'm gonna like this thing long term....I stuck in my 24-70 reverse-hooded on one side of the bag, then my 50mm and flash on the other side, then the 70-200 attached to body in the middle and I gotta say, its a real tight fit. Pain in the neck to get the extra lenses out. Maybe I shoulda went with the 30 instead of the 20?

Damn hoods are gigantic. The ads always say a bag can hold 3 lenses put whatever, but that's usually for just the lens. The hood can easily add an inch to the diameter for many lenses. Best to measure what you need to put in there and make sure the interior dimensions are sufficient.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
