Dec 14, 2012 19:44 | #3 No on an iPad you can only use iMessage through your email address, you can't use your mobile # for iMessage on your iPad, strictly on your iPhone. R3 | R6 II | 8-15L | 15-35L 2.8 | 28-70L F2 | 85L 1.2 | 70-200L 2.8

If you have a phone number associated with your AppleID, in the Messages settings you will see a selector for "Send and Receive" which lets you select which email addresses or phone numbers you want a particular device to respond to. On my iPad I can select phone numbers as well as email addresses. Image editing and C&C always OK

And if you have an iPhone, their servers have your phone number and thats how they are connected. As least thats my assumption. [Gear List | Flickr

When we were getting proliferation of texts across our devices, we were probably getting iMessages and not texts from a non-IOS device. Image editing and C&C always OK

Yea, but most of those charge on a per text basis bought in blocks. Unless youre referring to Google Voice. [Gear List | Flickr

Unless youre referring to Google Voice. Not true. Most are just ad supported, but you can buy a year of ad free for less than $10. IF you want to make voip calls on that number, you do have to buy minutes, but SMS texts are free. They do require internet access to work, obviously. Taylor

Just one example, there are a few more: https://itunes.apple.com …sms-real/id399355755?mt=8 Okay, so gotta ask, why do this when Google Voice is free with no ads and unlimited text messages and a phone number?
