My only suggestion would be to use better off camera flash or by bouncing your flash. This would help a bit with the round light that you see on the wall.

Yea she suffers from carpal tunel and was not even sure if she could take her brace off.. So the ridged hand was something we where happy to live with.

I tried bouncing the light but it had really high dark wood ceilings.. however i really never noticed the light as bad till you pointed it out.
