for adjustign white balance....

I am using ny DH's worklights..til i can save up the little best more to get my some AB's....

until then I have a nasty orange hue to deal with...so I have tried shooting RAW..its working way way better...

my question is...when im an converting it...and i adjust the white balance..I am using the tungsten setting...

My eyes seem to like the temperature or around 3000 best...is this a norm? Is there a standard that they should range in?

You can adjust it to whatever pleases you...nothing is right or wrong, per se. Moving the slider to the left will warm the colors and that may be more pleasing than the tungsten setting. A neutral white balance isn't always the best solution. A good example would be the golden color of morning sun. If you set the WB to daylight or a neutral WB tone, you'd lose the golden glow that nature photography strives for. Bear in mind, however, that your monitor should be calibrated and profiled to a standard for best results.

You could try taking a test shot of a grey card, and use the WB tool, but be warned, it may not be as accurate as you'd think. From there, a calibrated monitor and your eyes are your best bet.
