Contrary to popular belief, there is hockey going on in North America and the US, just not NHL hockey. I live in the Chicago area, but chose to go to Rockford since the Hogs are the Blackhawks' affiliate. I also refuse to go to any Wolves' games since they are currently Vancouver's affiliate. Anyway, this is the first chance I've had to shoot an event since I got my new camera, and here are just a few of the 1100 pictures I took. I'm clearly not a professional, so these are from my seats about 10 rows up in the arena. I think I had a problem with the auto focus not focusing properly in some photos; many of them were blurry. I started shooting on ISO 800, and moved it up to 1600 when some of the shots seemed to dark to me. I used a shutter speed of 1/250 and kept the aperture as wide open as possible; the F stop was at 4-5.6 for the game. I used my 75-300mm F/4-5.6 lens on my Canon Rebel T3i.

Ice Hogs lost this one 6-4.
Edit: I forgot the EN goal Hamilton scored at the end.

I love watching AHL hockey. Nice shots.

Look good on my phone....

Are shooting through the glass? Looked like maybe you were in a couple of them. That might have tricked your AF...

love the game!

I was a few rows up in the stands. The top edge of the glass did get in a few times, and I know that the AF locked onto that instead of my intended target a few times. Some of the others though I thought had a clear shot through the glass. Maybe it did lock onto the scratches on the glass and that caused my issue. I also have problems when I'm sitting on the ends and have to shoot through the netting protecting the spectators from the puck.

Thank you everyone for the compliments.
